History of Lane Hall

This exhibit was originally created by Kristin McGuire (History) from photos from the Bentley Historical Library. The presentation offers a glimpse of life at Lane Hall from 1859 - present and is interspersed with personal narratives from past residents and U-M alumni. Over the years, Lane Hall was transformed from the home of the Student Christian Association, YMCA, and Student Religious Association, among others. The building always buzzed with activity of student-led social and political organizations. Women eventually came to play leadership roles in all initiatives at Lane Hall, which became the home of the Women Studies Department and IRWG in June 2000.
