Funding Opportunity for Humanists
IRWG and the Institute for the Humanities have issued a call for proposals for new Collaborative Planning Grants in the Humanities and Humanistically Oriented Social Sciences. The application deadline for the 2012-13 academic year is March 15, 2012.

China Workshops CFP
This project, supported by the Luce Foundation, is an opportunity for teams of U-M faculty members in the humanities and social sciences to lead monthlong, summer workshops on gender studies at Fudan University in Shanghai.

IRWG Establishes Program on the Middle East and South Asia
IRWG has established its newest program, the Middle East/South Asia Gender and Sexuality Studies Initiative. Under the direction of Prof. Kathryn Babayan (Near Eastern Studies, History), the program will foster intellectual debate across traditional national and ethnic lines (Arab, Iranian, Turkish, Jewish, Indian, Pakistani) and explore new uses and meanings for gender and sexuality in academic and activist practices.
IRWG now sponsors five programs. We welcome program applications from all U-M faculty members. Applications for the next awards are due January 12, 2012.

Deborah Dash Moore Wins 2011 National Jewish Book Award

The Frederick G.L. Huetwell Professor of History and director of the Frankel Center for Judaic Studies has been honored for Gender & Jewish History (Indiana, 2010), a volume she edited with Marion Kaplan.

Holly Hughes Show in Top 10
The Dog and Pony Show (Bring Your Own Pony) was honored by the Baltimore City Paper, which also celebrated Hughes as a "performance superstar" and "one of the pioneers of 1980s-inspired autobiographical storytelling in performance art."
